Creative Cuticles Nail Polish - Interviews with Indie Nail Creators #2

Interviews with Indie Nail Polish Creators - #2

Hey guys! I hope you're doing well! I really am exciting to be interviewing indie polish creators. We've seen so many new nail trends because of them & I can't wait too see what they have in store for us next! Since indie polishes are very popular right now I figured there's probably a lot of customers/fans who would love to get to know the person behind all their favourite creations. So that's what I'm going to be trying to help you do!

Questions are BOLD & the creators response will be in the regular font.

Please tell me a bit yourself. (What's you're name? Are you a Cat or dog person?  Etc)
My name is Kayla Creech. I am a stay-at-home Mom to my 7 year old son, Ty. I like dogs & cats, but penguins are my FAVORITE animal!

What is your nail polish brand & how did you come up with the name?
Creative Cuticles Nail Polish; Before I started making polish, I was just a nail artist/polish enthusiast. Once I had decided that I would take it on, I wanted to tie my brand into the reputation that I had already started for myself. My nail art Instagram is "Kayla's Creative Cuticles", so, I took a bit from there.

What year did you start your brand & what motivated you?
Well, I began experimenting & testing in 2013, but didn't launch until February 28, 2014. I had been talking about wanting to do it for a while, and I kept changing my mind. My husband (boyfriend at the time), who could see how much I wanted to, kept pushing me to do it. Finally, I took the plunge.

Do you remember the name of the first polish you made &/or sold?
The first polish I ever made was "Duuuval!", and it was one of the four polishes that I opened my shop with. My first order was for all four polishes. "A Great Red" is the only polish that is still around, from the opening four.

When creating a new polish, what's your inspiration process?
Well, sometimes I get a polish idea, so I go jto it down in my planning book until I need an idea. Mostly, I think of a whole collection, plan the names, and then design the polish to fit the name & theme. Thinking of names AFTER a polish is made can prove to be very difficult, sometimes.

What is your all time favourite polish that you created?
Oh!!! That's a TOUGH one..........
All of my creations hold a special place in my heart.
But.....
"A Great Red" is a classic, beautiful polish.
"Parker" is inspired & named after my son (his middle name).
And, most recently, "Nothing Good" & "Where to Find Fantastic Beasts" are just perfect!!

What are your 3 top sellers of all times?
"Parker" (a deep blue jelly) is my all time Top Seller, followed by "Acid Rainbow" (a medium gray crelly with rainbow micro glitter), and the third is "Amy" (a light teal jelly).

From your personal experience what are some pros & cons to being a indie polish creator?
Pros are the fun you have while creating, seeing how fans react to some of your favorites, meeting people from ALL around the world, becoming friends with customers, knowing that your polishes are in several different countries, seeing people use your products never gets old!

Cons........ hmmm..
When you make a polish & it's gorgeous, but when you test it it stains or the glitters bleed. Those are the worst.
Also, USPS... enough said.

Where is your brand based? Do you ship internationally?
I am based out of Jacksonville, Florida & I do ship Internationally. I have several countries set up in my store, already, and I am always willing to add more if need be.

What's your favourite mainstream brand?
China Glaze, all day!

What's your favourite indie brand?
Hmmmm....... I'd have to say, pipe dream (she was my first purchase, ever!) & Loaded Lacquer.

Is there anything else you'd like my readers to know?
Not that I can think of, this was a very thorough interview. Thank you for thinking of me. 😙
Can't wait to read the rest of your interviews.
