Hey beauties! I know, I've been posting a lot of nail art posts however my nails are pretty long & I'm really getting back into nail art. This could possible be due to the fact that I haven't really touched my make up all month because earlier this month I tried I moisturizing clay mask & my face did not like it. At one point I had like 10 pimples. It was awful. However I put in a emergency skin care order on Sephora's website & my face is almost back to normal. So I'll be getting back to my usually mixture of topics soon! With ALL of that being said please let me show you this gorgeous palette from Kat Von D.

So this is the Alchemist palette which is said to be a Holographic palette, which is something I kind of have a problem with. I mean yeah the packaging is holographic... however the product inside is not, I repeat, is not holographic. I mean com'on as a large company you should have a professional person who knows different finishes, because to be very honest saying they're holographic is a straight lie. I know Kat said she's been working on this for 7 years, but I almost feel like they made it holographic & say they're holographic finishes to sort of jump on the "All holo everything" trend.

Don't get me wrong tho, the packaging & product inside is everything I want but I don't like that they say that the shadows are a holographic finish, when they're really duo-chrome/iridescent.

& again to be even more honest, I really wished the pans were larger. They're 0.05 oz/ 1.53 g each. So there's 0.20 oz/ 6.12 g for a total for $43 CAD. So you're paying $7 per pan. However if you buy the light & shade face palette you get a lot more. Since it's $55.00 & you get 0.72 oz of product. Like I don't think the pigments costs are that different?
Also the pan sizes are better for a large fluffy eyeshadow blending brush or the Shade + Light Contour Brush compared to Lock-It Setting Powder Brush they recommend. The pan sizes aren't really big enough for a large face brush.

Okay, okay.... enough of the heavy. Time to get to the actually product in the pans. I like em, they're gorgeous. I love different products & these are pretty "unique" for being sold in a store.I mean yea I know Anastasia Beverly Hills has something similar, but that's an exclusive to her website. Which I might add is based in the US, so if I want to order something, I have to pay international shipping to Canada, the US to CAD currency exchange (which is not pretty!) & possibly pay duties. So it's not actually easy to get, of course the Alchemist palette is currently out of stock on Sephora & off the top of my head I don't believe they have anything like this at a drugstore.

Personally I think these eyeshadows are great. I swatched them over the Urban Decay Anti-Aging Primer Potion. The black section was using the Essence Waterproof dip liner & let me tell you the eyeshadows stuck to that liner like glue. Also the formula on these shadows are great! They last a long time, as long as you use a primer & would last even longer with a setting spray.
I do think that they show up better over a base, or on a tan to dark skin tones. They may be too light for people with more pale skin. They are great when used on their own, or over another shadow to transform it. I also these these are gonna be amazing highlighters. I'm personally most excited for the green. I also can 't wait to add these over a matte liquid lip! There's just so many uses for them.
All I can really do is give you some info & my opinions on it & hope it helps you, because to someone who loves Kat Von D products this may be something that you gotta add to your collection. However if you already have a large collection or something similar you may want to pass. I just hope that this helps you decide what you want to do.
